If you ask a golfer on his or her opinions on the world’s top golf destinations, Scotland, California or Florida would probably be one of the places that will pop up. However, a North Carolina–based Kalos Golf tour company (in collaboration with TCS World Travel) will add the South America to the list with its “Best of South America Golf Tour’. The tour being a 20-day itinerary that allows golfers to play links located in Barbados, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic, it is sure to kick off with a bang in October. Guests are invited to spend the night at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando before boarding a Boeing 757 bound for the Caribbean. With a limited guest list of 52 people, the trip promises to be an exclusive experience for enthusiastic golfers.

While playing golf, these guests would also get to experience a little bit of South America’s rich culture and history. Avid golfers get to experience the whimsical Tom Fazio–designed Green Monkey course, which is carved from a former limestone rock quarry and available exclusively to hotel guests during a two-day stay at Sandy Lane in Barbados. Meanwhile, in Peru, guests can choose between taking a historic and privately chartered train to Machu Picchu (one of the new seven wonders of the world and now, a UNESCO World Heritage site) or staying in Lima to play at the exclusive Los Inkas Golf Club, where pre-Inca ruins trail several of the holes. While in the capital city of Santiago, Chile, travellers can choose to embark on a wine-tasting tour, visit the neoclassical Metropolitan Cathedral, and explore the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts. All this before heading to Hacienda Chicureo Golf Club, a unique golf course in the high desert.

Olivos Golf Club, an exclusive destination that is considered by many experts to be the finest course in Argentina is the next leg of the journey where golfers will head to Buenos Aires. With tree-lined fairways and beautiful greens, the course is a major draw for golf afficionados. If you’re looking for a more challenging yet rewarding game, the Llao Llao Hotel & Resort in Nahuel Huapi National Park in Bariloche is a five-star property with a stunning golf course that offers 360-degree views of the surrounding snow-covered mountains from every hole. The next stop is the Chapelco Golf & Resort, located in the foothills of the Andes, where guests will play on a scenic course surrounded by pine trees and several lakes.

Brazil is the second last stop on the schedule. In between strolling down the colourful streets of Rio de Janeiro, guests will play at the twisty terrain at Gávea Golf and Country Club (located near the Tijuca National Forest) as well as the Olympic Golf Course, which was built for the 2016 summer games. Last but not least, the Dominican Republic will seal “Best of South America Golf Tour” experience. Closing with a round of golf at Punta Espada Golf Club in Cap Cana, it is a Jack Nicklaus–designed course with several ocean-side holes at the water’s edge. All this starting at $94,000 per person, it is certainly an experience they won’t forget. If you’re looking for a unique South America Tour, there are many ways to experience this beautiful continent without breaking the bank.
